EA Sports fans have eagerly awaited the return of college football gaming, but recent insights reveal a surprising twist. When EA Sports College Football 25 hits the shelves this July, it will be notably absent from one key platform: PC. According to trustworthy data miner billbil-kun, the game is set to release solely on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, excluding PC gamers and owners of previous-generation consoles.

This marks a significant departure from previous iterations of the NCAA Football series, which were available on PC. According to Insider Gaming, the decision was made early in the development process to focus on current-gen consoles. The game won't grace Xbox One or PlayStation 4 either, reinforcing EA's commitment to leveraging the full capabilities of the latest hardware. While this may disappoint some fans, it also suggests that the developers are aiming for a high-quality, next-gen experience.

Insider sources suggest that a PC version is not entirely off the table—just delayed. The plan, from the get-go, was to eventually make the game available on PC. However, the current state of the project necessitates a staggered release. Future iterations of the game might finally bring the college football experience to PC users. For now, it seems EA is prioritizing a polished, console-centric launch to mark the series' return after an 11-year hiatus.

The game will be available in three editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s. Details about these versions are still under wraps, but fans can expect a range of bonuses and in-game content. The official cover, set to be revealed on May 16, features Texas' Quinn Ewers, Colorado's Travis Hunter, and Michigan's Donovan Edwards. This trio, smiling in an empty stadium, sets the stage for a fresh and vibrant return to college football.

EA Sports has yet to confirm the platforms officially, but the absence of PC and last-gen consoles is a significant move. The Madden NFL series, another EA Sports staple, includes a PC version that matches the current-gen consoles in quality. This makes the omission in College Football 25 even more noteworthy. As anticipation builds, fans can only hope that the eventual PC release will be worth the wait. Until then, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners will have first dibs on reliving their college football dreams.
