Fortnite's Creative mode has seen massive improvements since the launch of UEFN earlier this year, providing players with the tools to create virtually anything they can imagine. Despite these enhancements, there were still issues with the old system, particularly in the form of deceptive cover images filled with gimmicky buttons for each island. However, Epic Games has taken a step to rectify this problem with a recent email update to creators.
Multiple data miners have reported that Fortnite sent out communications informing creators that they would face penalties if their cover images contained excessive extra images and buttons. Epic Games provided a detailed list of elements that should not be included in Creative Island cover images, such as arrows, platform-specific inputs, weapons with squares resembling those in a battle royale, references to any game currency, and sales tag-style names.
This move by Epic Games is expected to enhance the quality of images uploaded to the platform, as many players have previously complained about creators attempting to exploit others through deceptive cover images. These misleading levels often enticed younger players to enter, lured by the promise of V-Bucks or other rewards depicted in the cover image, only to benefit the level's creator. With a significant portion of Fortnite's audience being children, it is crucial for Epic Games to ensure that the information they consume is accurate and not exploitative in any way.
It is also hoped that this change will encourage creators to showcase their levels' best artistic features using Fortnite's in-game tools, which make capturing images a breeze. This will not only improve the overall aesthetic of the platform but also create a more immersive experience for players when browsing through Creative Islands.
Since the release of Creative 2.0 in March 2023, Epic Games has been consistently updating and making adjustments for content creators. This latest move to address the issue of deceptive cover images demonstrates the company's commitment to enhancing the overall experience for both creators and players alike, ensuring that Fortnite's Creative mode continues to thrive.
