Marvel star Lupita Nyong’o offers some unique advice to Fantastic Four’s Joseph Quinn on his entry into the MCU.
Nyong’o and Quinn previously collaborated in the horror prequel A Quiet Place: Day One. This, however, isn’t the only franchise connection between them. Earlier in the year, Quinn secured the role of the Human Torch in the upcoming Fantastic Four film, starring alongside Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Vanessa Kirby.
In a discussion with GamesRadar+ and the Inside Total Film podcast, Quinn mentioned reaching out to Nyong’o to share the news. Reflecting on their conversation, Nyong’o humorously admits she has a poor memory. Quinn reassures her by elaborating that her encouragement played a significant role in his decision to take on the role.
As for advice, Nyong’o suggests that he get a scented candle for his trailer, which is likely beneficial to anyone. The entire conversation can be viewed below.
The actors are set to appear next in A Quiet Place: Day One, a prequel to John Krasinski and Emily Blunt’s films. This installment transports audiences to the initial day of the invasion in New York City. Nyong’o’s character, Sam, and Quinn’s character, Eric, struggle to survive the day alongside Sam’s cat.
Quinn explains that unlike the first two films, which had a more contained, rural setting driven by family dynamics, this film takes place in the bustling environment of New York City. He notes that the familiar premise is set against a much larger and, at times, louder background, only to become even quieter in moments of tension.
A Quiet Place: Day One will be released in UK cinemas on June 27 and in US theaters on June 28. The full interview can be heard on the Inside Total Film podcast later this week.
