The latest update to Google Chrome for iOS has brought an array of new functionalities designed to enhance user experience in navigating the web. With these additions, iPhone users can effortlessly search for information and complete tasks more efficiently. The update is set to roll out in November 2024.
New capabilities in Google Chrome for iOS include the ability to append text queries to visual searches using Google Lens, which aims to improve search accuracy by incorporating specific details alongside image queries. This dual-input method is particularly beneficial for conducting more intricate searches.
Additionally, the browser offers a solution to the common “Storage Almost Full” alert that users experience. The updated Chrome permits the direct saving of images and other online content to Google Drive and Google Photos. To utilize this feature, users need only to select the Drive option during the save process, which will store the content in a newly created folder titled “Saved from Chrome” within the Files app. For saving images, users can press and hold the image, bringing up a context menu that allows them to save it directly to Google Photos.
In the United States, Chrome's updated version introduces a shopping insights tool that enhances online shopping experiences by alerting users to potential deals. When searching for a product, users will receive notifications that provide insights such as pricing history and alternative purchasing options. This functionality is contingent upon activating the Make Searches and Browsing Better setting within Chrome and will initially be accessible to users in the US, with plans for a wider rollout in the future.
Another noteworthy feature included in the update is the integration of mini-maps for addresses. By tapping on an underlined address within the browser, users can view a mini-map without needing to navigate away to Google Maps. This feature is presently being evaluated and will be accessible globally soon.
