The world of gaming is set to get more exciting as SEGA announces its first RGG Like a Dragon Direct. Slated for September 19th, the broadcast serves to unveil new information about two highly-anticipated titles, 'Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name' and 'Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth'. This event, targeting the Western audience, will be the Western counterpart to the RGG Summit broadcasted from Japan.
SEGA promises to share the latest news, trailers, and other intriguing insights during the broadcast. Fans across geographies can tune in to SEGA’s Twitch and YouTube channels at 9 p.m. PT on September 19th to get the latest scoop. This dedicated stream is a significant move from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, being their first broadcast specifically for their Western audience.
'Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name' is set to release soon, with the launch date set for November 9th. It will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. In contrast, information about 'Infinite Wealth', the eighth primary installment in the Yakuza series, remains scarce. However, according to RGG Studio's previous stream, it is set to release in early 2024.
At the recent Gamescom event, we had a chance to catch up with Hiroyuki Sakamoto, the series producer of Like a Dragon. He shared insights about 'Like a Dragon Gaiden', a spinoff that bridges the events of 'Yakuza: Like a Dragon' and 'Infinite Wealth'. Sakamoto revealed the decision to bring back Kiryu as a protagonist, which was always the plan despite the events of 'Yakuza 6: Song of Life' and 'Yakuza: Like a Dragon'.
This announcement from SEGA adds to the rush of direct announcements in the gaming world. With Nintendo and PlayStation also announcing a Direct and State of Play, respectively, the coming days are undoubtedly lined up with exciting updates for gaming enthusiasts. Stay tuned for a thrilling ride through the world of 'Like a Dragon', as we eagerly anticipate what SEGA has in store for us on September 19th.
